Located on a 35-acre site on Rte. 143 in James City County, the jail opened in June of 1997 and serves the counties of York and James City and the cities of Williamsburg and Poquoson. The primary mission of the facility is to provide a safe and secure environment for the detention of persons lawfully admitted to the facility by the four participating jurisdictions.
