ArcINFO2Shape GUI converts ArcINFO coverages to shapefile format. Copyright 2007 Leszek This program converts ArcINFO coverages to shapefile format, and was originally written to be used as part of a process to convert E00 files to shapefiles. You must do the following first: 1. Install FWTools (available at http://fwtools.maptools.org/). This program uses the "ogr2ogr" vector conversion utility in FWTools. 2. Copy this program into the ""bin"" directory for FWTools, and run it from there. 3.Created ArcINFO coverages from E00 files using Import71, AVCE00Export, or some other program. Next: 1. Select the folder containing the ArcINFO coverages using the disk and directory selection boxes; the selected directory will be shown on the left. 2. Enter an ID name for the product shapefiles. 3. Click on "Execute Conversion". The program will automatically check for the existence of isolated point/label files (LAB), polygon centroid point files (CNT), arc/line files (ARC), and polygon/area coverages (PAL), and create shapefiles for all of them with "_LAB"", "_CNT", "_ARC", and "_PAL" appended to the ID name. For example, if you select "test" for the ID name, you will get shapefiles called "test_LAB.shp", "test_CNT.shp", etc.. If one type of coverage doesn't exist, e.g. no "CNT", no file will be created. The product shapefiles will be placed in the same directory as the coverage files, and will overwrite any files with those names already there (unlikely). Use at your own risk (which should be minimal). License Agreement This notice cannot be deleted from or modified in any distribution of this software. © 2007 by Leszek Pawlowicz. All rights reserved.
